My Local Church Experience, Daniel Tavares |
|
I have now been in the local church for about 20 years. I was born in Hilo, Hawaii and found the local church there. I came in an indirect way through my parents when I was five. Throughout the years we came in and out of fellowship. If my parents felt like going, they would go; if not, then they wouldn't. They didn't feel any religious obligation to come, although they felt like the local church was really the place for them. I then started to participate in meetings when I was about 15. I started to ask some questions about the theology in the local church. I developed a real hunger to know more about the Bible. I started studying the ministry by brother Witness Lee and Watchman Nee. I found their theology to be orthodox according to the basic teachings of my Christian friends and even deeper. Then I found out about the Full-Time Training in Anaheim. The Training is designed to teach believers, who have passed through college, both the fundamental and advanced teachings found in the Bible. It is also designed to develop a person's character in such a way as to become more useful to the Lord. So I went to the Full-Time Training after getting my degree in Biology and will be graduating in two months. I feel like I have found a family with the brothers here and hope that I will always be with them wherever I go. |
